Week 6 - 15

Week 6 – Project design & planning
Did a presentation on what we are going to do for our project. But it turned out not as good as I hoped, or thought. The concept discussion did not go so smoothly after the presentation. The talk was hard core and everything has come to show that most of everything would not work, reason being of the technical part and concept wise of my idea. As this week has gone by, had a major decision making to do. As this week was the week of changes, change of new idea's.

Week 7 – Project presentation
So as last week thinking of new idea's. Presented my new idea and it went better than the previous idea I had. (Thank goodness). This time is sounds more stable and more do-able. This is when I thought that this will be a cool project that I've come up with. With this new concept.

Week 8 – Media integration week

Week 9 – Project design treatment
After the integration week of fun experience which surprisingly not so demanding. It was back to work. The description of the work came out more successful than the written text. Now that by far it is successful, it is time to build it. Going to use wood to cut out the shape of the mp4 for the video and Polaroid placed on, surrounded by series of funny things to make people smile/laugh.

Week 10 – Project development
This week is one of those good weeks (you hardly get that anymore). I am on the right track unlike the previous weeks. The prototype which is made was easy to hold although heavy. Am thinking of a way that you do not need to hold it with your hands and feel the burden of carrying it. During this week, I came up upon an idea of making another prototype. A box. And the button from the Polaroid, I will have to use a solenoid. Will have to figure out how to install it as a device on my Polaroid.

Week 11 – Project development
Built the box over the weekend and everything with it. A totally new object from scratch, along with different idea's. I actually gave this box a name, the Big Black Box. Happy with it. It serves as a mystery of what is inside. Other than that, the solenoid came a bit of a problem. The push the solenoid gives is too soft, too soft to penetrate the push button on the Polaroid to take a picture. It continues...

Week 12 – Project revisions
It was said that the idea of hacking the button would be last choice if the solenoid did not work. Well, it did not. Trying to find out the best way to make it work did not (Pul hair!). So now it means that it is time to take apart the compact and hack the button. It was a nervous moment when a level 3 student had helped me to solder wire onto it to make a switch. In the end it was a success! Now that the button has been hacked, my worries are literally dissolved. But that's what I thought...

Week 13 – Project revisions
Week 13 is a good week (I thought). Now that the button has been hacked, connected the male and female wires together and to a hand held switch. But, during week 12, I came across the most annoying problem of all time. The video footage I need to use is not corresponding with me. I need to load the video clip into a MP4 player. It does not want to play, does not want to work. The frustration out of something I never knew would be a problem, has become a problem. Everything is done, except for the video input. The most and simplest, easiest thing to do for this project has wiped out the smile off my face!

Week 14 – Project revisions
Until this week (good timing). Where I asked for help to do the most simplest step, did not help as well. The MP4 player is not cooperating with anyone. Until the words, 'what about PSP?' Then I abandoned the MP4 and moved on to the PSP. It worked like a prayer.
Time to do the experiments. It went on great, my test subjects really did cooperate and enjoyed the process. A happy experiment!

Week 15 – Final presentation
Presentation day. I could not wait for this day. To show what I have done and what my thoughts are compiled to this day. Although it only lasted 20min. A happy project.

On presentation day, showing my work to Andreas and Teresa. Thank you for the semester!
